Shortly before 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, crews were called to the area of Opossumtown Pike and Bloomfield Road, where there was a reported house fire, which was, in fact, a shed that was fully engulfed.
Frederick County Fire and Rescue personnel were able to knock down the flames within 20 minutes, but their night was far from over.
While leaving that incident, crews came upon a barn fire in a neighboring property on Opossumtown Pike, which led to the rescue of a horse that was in a perilous position.
Firefighters again worked quickly and had the fire under control in under a half hour.
It is unclear what caused either blaze.
No injuries were reported in either fire, both of which are now being investigated by the Frederick County Fire Marshal's Office.
